New experiences, new places, new moments

idahedman.substack.com

The wind is rattling the windows, rain falling in big, heavy drops on the ground. I can feel the earth cherish the storm winds and heavy rainfall – quenching its thirst after a long dry that has forced nature to grow deep, deep into the nourishing earth.

Life feels suddenly very quiet after weeks of visits; my family was here for the holidays and beyond. Now they’re all gone besides our dog who’s still here, fast asleep, curled into a tight ball between my feet.

Having family visit me is always both intense and amazing; it’s so rare for us to be in one place. It’s curious how we are all one, strongly connected, yet all live apart. Each of us have strong individual paths, paths to follow that allow nothing else than to step on them, to live our purposes true.

When we’re together it’s a beautiful reminder that I’m not alone; I’m a part of something, a part of this small family of ours. A part even though we live apart.

It was a brilliant, soft, relaxing time with so many new experiences, new places, new moments.

We went up to Montserrat with my sister last week. The mountain is beautiful, alive, ancient. So foreign to me in its powers it felt strange to walk up the narrow path to the top.

Strange in a good way. We were welcomed, curiously followed by the creatures guarding the life on the mountain. So strange that I have the urge to go back and explore, dig deeper, while also feeling it’s not my place. A mixture of wanting to learn more and feeling like an intruder. Nevertheless, I’m amazed by the place, its powers and its ancient inhabitants who seem to be carved in stone as reminders of times long gone.

Maybe when spring comes, I’ll hike up again. Even though there are so many other places calling to me;

There seems to be so much to do, so many places to visit, countless things to experience. An excitement in the air that funnels me forward, asks to be cherished. It's almost difficult to sit down, to be still, yet stillness is all that this moment requires; to surrender in each moment, ride the wave that sparkles in the sun.

It’s already getting late in the morning, time for us to take a walk in the rain – Zhen won’t much care for it, but I’ll enjoy the rain drops, the fresh air, the cleansing winds.

I’ll write to you soon again. Hope you’re well, enjoying this time and life wherever you are, whatever you do.

Yours,
Ida

P.S. We also went to Sagrada Família with my mum and sister – but I believe that requires a letter of its own. And also some digestion; the light there is a universe of its own.

P.P.S. I included some pictures: The first is from Montserrat. The second of our tiny fluffpuff Zhen (not in Montserrat). She sends her love.
